IPAF Training

Health and safety legislation including the work at height regulations 2005 require that any operative using an MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform e.g. Scissor lift, boom lift/cherry picker) must be competent and trained to do so. IPAF is the nationally recognised governing body dedicated to the training of MEWP operatives. We are able to offer IPAF training for all MEWPs in all categories (see below).

IPAF Training Courses and duration:

There are four main categories of IPAF training available, each one covering a type of

MEWP

1a Static Vertical (e.g. static scissor lifts)
1b Static Boom (e.g. static cherry picker)
3a Mobile Vertical (e.g. mobile scisoor lift)
3b Mobile Boom (e.g. mobile cherry picker)

Categories can be done as an individual one day course or two categories e.g. Mobile Vertical and Mobile Boom can be combined into one days training.

This course is designed to give operatives of MEWPs (e.g. Scissor lifts, boom lifts, cherry pickers), the knowledge, understanding and instruction to ensure that each delegate is competent in their safe use, maintenance and inspection, as required by the Work at Height Regulations 2005. On successful completion, each delegate will receive a certificate and PAL card as proof of their training.

The course will cover:

Emergency systems for lowering
Hazards and risks
Checks and inspections
Controls

Written & practical assessment

Nationwide On-site IPAF Training or at our Gatwick Training Centre

SSTS employ a number of instructors, therefore allowing us to provide Nationwide on-site training on a date of your choice.

Alternatively, you can book your course to be held at our training centre, located near Gatwick Airport. Our Gatwick training centre is fully heated/air conditioned, with an all weather practical training building and state of the art teaching facilities. Lunch and refreshments will be included at no-extra cost for all courses at our centre.

Availability and numbers

Here at SSTS, we believe it should be up to the customer, to decide the date of their training course. Therefore you tell us the date that you would like the training and we will do our best to arrange your course for that day. For individual bookings, we hold an open day each month at our Gatwick training centre.

IPAF Safety Harness Training

This IPAF safety harness training course is for anyone who will be involved with MEWPs which require the use of safety harnesses e.g. boom type and cherry pickers.

This course is a half day course which will cover the necessary information required to ensure delegates are able to select, use, maintain and inspect appropriate fall arrest equipment when using MEWPs.
